We don't see it in movies except maybe Titanic, we don't see it in comics or TV. The time period as well is just something we DON'T see nowadays, like anywhere. Her dialogue was on point she interacted with the environment in real ways she felt like an extension of this world rather than an NPC in it. She was funny, whimsical, naive in some ways but more so she felt REAL. She was incredibly smart, both from a helping you in the game standpoint and in the story. While the protagonist was your stereotypical tough guy with a heart of gold and a troubled past Elizabeth on the other hand was anything but. Having all of that color in a game was just perfect. It came out when everyone was BEYOND sick of the grey and brown Unreal Engine games. So first off the game is absolutely beautiful. Having not played the previous Bioshock games beforehand, I can say I found it at the time to be very unique and enjoyable and really left me thinking about it over the rest of the week, something few games make me do. I appreciate any game with a decent story, good mechanics, nice visuals (This game looked fantastic) and all but some games just tend to stick with you. It wasn't all that tense and suspenseful as the originals but I certainly enjoyed playing it. I also thought the skyhook mechanic was a nice small way to add some fun verticality to the average gunplay. Sure it may seem pretentious to some, sure they didn't explore a few themes as well as they could have, but it isn't every day a game comes along to just try and blow people's minds.Īs for the game itself I thought Elizabeth was a great companion who's now prominent in gaming pop culture and for good reason. Say what you will about the game's flaws, I certainly did enjoy it and I'd be lying if I said I didn't spend the night after I beat the game thinking about that ending. If there is a next Bioshock, would you prefer to go to Rapture, re-visit Columbia, or go to someplace new? What did you think of Booker as a protagonist, how about Elizabeth? DeWitt has to learn to fight foes in high-speed Sky-Line battles, engage in combat both indoors and amongst the clouds, and harness the power of a myriad of new weapons and abilities.ĭid the world of Columbia engulf you like Rapture did the first time you took a visit?
